"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." -Alan Cohen

Jumping in...

Monday started the medical mission. ICSF welcomed 60 children to be screened as potential surgical patients. We went around, met the children's families, and shared many of the donations we brought (activity packs & bracelets) as they waited to meet with the doctor. The speech team then met with children who've received cleft lip and/or palate surgeries a year ago in Dipolog and three months ago in a close by city, Ozamiz. We screened each child to examine their current speech and to test for potential treatment targets. I believe we saw around 30 children! It has been a quick learning curve!! The kids are darling and so eager to work... Will share more in depth stories soon!

Theresa has uploaded some pictures on her blog as well as Ellie, an ICSF human relations corespondent. I'll let you hop on over to check those out!
